Our Philosophy

The Wentworth Adult Mixed Slo-Pitch League (WAMSL) was formed to promote an improved slo-pitch game. Both league and tournament play operates in accordance with the bylaws of the city of Hamilton as well as the bylaws and constitution of WAMSL.
We currently have and offer six (6) divisions in our league, from the very recreational to the slightly competitive. The solid base of returning teams includes many that have been with the league for more than 25 years. We also adjust our divisions to keep teams playing at the appropriate skill level.
League organizers have been involved with this program for more than 40 years. To ensure fair play for everyone, games are closely monitored.
Player safety is always our main concern. As a safety measure, representatives monitor bats that are on the market to ensure that the speed of the ball coming off the bat is safe for our players and program. In addition, the pitcher's mound has been extended to offer a higher level of safety for the pitchers as well as face & head protection. For our catchers, there is a commitment line half way from third base to home plate so there is no contact, all outs at home plate will be force outs. For the health and safety for catchers starting November 1, 2021, it is mandatory for catchers to wear face protection. We also suggest and encourage all players to wear face protection and batting helmets.

Softball Season

Enjoy a full season of recreational slo-pitch softball with the Wentworth Adult Mixed Slo-Pitch League in Hamilton, Ontario. We operate a six male and four female player league, which means there are six male and four female players on the field. With a roster of up to 20 players, all players who attend games are in the batting order.
We play Monday through Thursday from May to the end of August. Our regular season schedule includes 24 games (12 double headers) for each team. Experience a positive balance of competition and camaraderie during our League Tournament, which is held in June.
The season final playoffs, which is a tournament format, takes place the last weekend in August. Each team that wins their division receives prizing, which is predetermined by the league executives.
Each team in the league is also entitled to receive two (2) individual achievement awards. This may include Most Valuable Player, or Most Improved Player, or Most Valuable Contributor. This award is decided by each individual team.
A year-end awards dinner and dance is part of the WAMSL program.
